On-site measurement
Check incoming materials, moulded parts and finished goods directly where they are handled.
Production & field measurement
Take professional color measurement to the sample. Portable spectrophotometers help quality teams make repeatable color decisions on production floors, at receiving inspection and wherever a lab instrument is not practical.

Built for real-world QC
A portable spectrophotometer brings controlled color measurement to components, panels, packaging and materials without moving samples to a laboratory. It is a practical choice when speed, traceability and a clear pass/fail workflow matter.
Check incoming materials, moulded parts and finished goods directly where they are handled.
Use defined geometry, apertures and ΔE tolerances to reduce subjective visual approvals.
Capture standards and sample records, then share measurement data with your quality process.

Compare the models
| Key difference | SD-300 | SD-500 | SD-700 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | US$3,995 | US$4,995 | US$5,995 |
| UV measurement | No — combined LED source | No — combined LED source | Yes — LED and UV illumination |
| Aperture approach | Fixed 8 mm measurement / 10 mm illumination | Specify MAV, SAV or 1 × 3 mm configuration | Switchable 8 mm and 4 mm apertures |
| Computer connection | USB cable | USB cable + Bluetooth | USB cable + Bluetooth |
| Best fit | Routine color control where a fixed 8 mm aperture suits the sample | Flexible aperture selection, including small or narrow sample areas | Applications that require UV measurement and switchable apertures |
| Small or narrow sample areas | Needs a clear 8 mm measurement area — best on larger flat spots | Best for tiny or narrow areas — choose the 4 mm or 1 × 3 mm configuration | Good flexibility — switch between 8 mm and 4 mm apertures |
| Brightened or fluorescent materials | Use the SD-700 instead if UV response affects the color | Use the SD-700 instead if UV response affects the color | Yes — designed for UV-responsive whites and optically brightened materials |
| Repeatability (lower is better) | Good — ΔE ≤ 0.06 | Better — ΔE ≤ 0.04 | Best in the range — ΔE ≤ 0.03 |
| Saved reference colors | Up to 800 standards | Up to 1,000 standards | Up to 2,000 standards |
All three models provide d/8 geometry, SCI/SCE measurement and camera-assisted positioning.
Repeatability indicates how closely the instrument repeats the same reading; lower ΔE means less variation. All three models can store up to 20,000 sample readings.
Choose with confidence
The best instrument depends on material, surface finish, aperture requirements, the tolerance you need to hold and whether gloss should influence the result.
