The SD-500 is a high-precision portable grating spectrophotometer for professional color measurement, color matching and quality control. It combines d/8 optical geometry, simultaneous SCI/SCE measurement, a 400–700 nm spectral range and a choice of 8 mm, 4 mm or 1 × 3 mm measurement aperture configurations. Camera-assisted positioning, a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, USB and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and extensive color-analysis functions make it suitable for laboratory, production and field measurement.

Built for reliable industrial color control
Designed for industrial color control where repeatability and consistent color data matter, the SD-500 measures spectral reflectance across the visible 400–700 nm range and calculates a broad set of standard colorimetric values. Its d/8 optical system measures both specular-component-included (SCI) and specular-component-excluded (SCE) data, allowing users to evaluate intrinsic color as well as the influence of surface appearance.
The concave-grating spectrophotometric system and 256-element dual-array CMOS image sensor provide detailed spectral measurement. The touchscreen displays spectral data, chromaticity values, color differences, PASS/FAIL results and color offset information, while the integrated camera assists precise positioning. USB and Bluetooth 5.0 support data transfer and software-based color workflows.
Choose the right aperture for the sample
A configurable measurement aperture lets you specify the instrument for larger conventional sample areas or much smaller measurement areas, including a 1 × 3 mm option. This is especially useful for flat, small, narrow or difficult sample geometries. Select the required aperture configuration when ordering.
- MAV: Φ8 mm measurement / Φ10 mm illumination
- SAV: Φ4 mm measurement / Φ5 mm illumination
- Small-area option: 1 × 3 mm
