The SD-900B is a high-precision benchtop grating spectrophotometer for demanding laboratory and production color-control workflows. It combines reflectance, transmittance and haze measurement with d/8 reflectance and d/0 transmission geometry, simultaneous SCI/SCE measurement, UV-inclusive and UV-excluded modes, and a 360–780 nm spectral range.
Dual LED/UV and xenon illumination
The SD-900B combines full-spectrum LED/UV illumination with a 360–780 nm xenon lamp. This dual-light-source architecture is the instrument’s principal distinction and is specifically positioned by the supplied material for improved recognition when testing fluorescent samples. It supports UV-inclusive and UV-excluded workflows plus 400 nm and 420 nm cut-off sources.

Reflectance, transmission and haze in one system
The SD-900B’s concave-grating optical system uses a 256-element dual-array CMOS image sensor and a 154 mm integrating sphere to support a wide range of solid, transparent and translucent samples. d/8 reflectance measurement supports SCI and SCE measurement. d/0 transmission measurement also supports SCI/SCE, while haze measurement is specified with reference to ASTM D1003.
Flexible apertures and sample handling
Four reflective aperture configurations support different sample sizes, and automatic aperture recognition helps reduce configuration errors. The open transmission chamber accepts samples up to 54 mm thick, with unrestricted sample height according to the supplied specification.
- XLAV: 25.4 mm measurement / 30 mm illumination
- LAV: 15 mm measurement / 18 mm illumination
- MAV: 8 mm measurement / 10 mm illumination
- SAV: 4 mm measurement / 6 mm illumination
Controlled measurement and connected workflow
A 7-inch independently rotatable touchscreen gives direct access to spectral curves, color values, color differences, PASS/FAIL assessment, haze and liquid-color measurement. Real-time camera positioning helps centre the sample and verify the measurement area. Automatic temperature and humidity compensation is intended to improve measurement consistency as conditions change.
USB and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, 32 GB onboard storage, audit-trail support and PC/mobile software options extend the system into color-data management, report generation and broader quality workflows. Software functions and platform availability may vary by supplied configuration.
